3 x Sun Fast 3600’s Racing to Hobart

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron member Mark Hipgrave has entered his Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600 “Mister Lucky” in the 2017 Rolex Sydney to Hobart having recently had the yacht shipped to Australia after competing in the OSTAR single-handed transatlantic race and finishing 3rd (another Sun Fast 3600 won the race). Mark took delivery of the yacht in the UK and raced there with the very active fleet of Sun Fast owner’s.
Now he’s invited a group of these very experienced owners to come to Australia to crew with him in the Sydney to Hobart race. Among them is the UK Jeanneau dealer Nigel Colley, who has owned and raced his own Sun Fast 3200’s and 3600’s in the name “Fastrak” over a number of years. Nigel has completed the around Britain and Ireland race, the Fastnet race, many of the RORC races as well as the short-handed association events on the South coast of the UK, so has a wealth of experience on board the current Sun Fast models.
In addition, Western Australia’s Jeanneau importer Todd Giraudo and Rod Smallman from Melbourne, are both racing their Sun Fast 3600’s in the 2017 Melbourne to Hobart race. All three owners are also completing these races as a warm up to the 2018 Melbourne to Osaka race, along with a Sun Fast 3200 also from Perth. We wish you guys all the best and we are sure you will be up there in the overall results.
Whether IRC or short-handed racing, club or twilight racing the Sun Fast 3200 and 3600 have proved themselves time and time again as being both highly competitive, and easily handed.
