Following the enormous success of the ground-breaking Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 last month, the first years production of which sold out in weeks with three confirmed for NSW, Jeanneau have also announced the new Sun Odyssey 490, which has exactly the same DNA, and is also bristling with new and practical ideas. Make no bones about it, these are the first of a whole new generation of yachts on the World market using the latest design thinking and production building techniques.
The Sun Odyssey 490 features the same extraordinary sloping side-decks allowing easy movement from forward to cockpit level, without the need to step over anything. This combined with an effective electric swim-platform and opening coamings to generate sun-lounging space offers an exceptional amount of easily useable deck space, like no other yacht before.
Down below the stand-out feature is the enormous and luxurious owner’s cabin, which features a dedicated toilet to one side, shower on the other as well as a separate vanity, book-shelves and lots of locker space. The bed is a full sized Queen and is rectangular, so uses conventional sheets and covers. Supremely comfortable.
The modern saloon uses a modern take on yacht layouts with a forward galley and large dinette, but then has an enormous proper forward facing nav’ table/home office with an occasional settee adjacent to it.
38 South Boat Sales is offering a one-off special introductory price on the first yacht to be ordered for delivery to Sydney in July as so it can be put on display at the 2018 Sydney Boat Show, so if this may be of interest please contact us asap!
